We operate as a climbing centre independent climbing and bouldering club so potentially we could operate anywhere, however our selected climbing centres are Undercover rock Bristol for the ‘roped’ climbing sessions and Bloc climbing centre for the bouldering climbing sessions (low levels above safety mats).
The bouldering sessions that are held each Thursday of the school term are run inside Bloc climbing centre in St Werburghs, Bristol, BS2 9SH.
To find out more about where these climbing centres are and parking please visit the respective website using the links above.
While our numbers are not rigid we currently are running our Autism climbing sessions with a very low ratio (the good low!) of 1 instructor for every 5 children and have a group size of approximately 10.
We do on occasion, to help those in need, go a few over.
Currently we have a policy whereby only children with Autism are welcome on the sessions. In the past we have made exceptions and we may continue to still do so on a case by case basis.
We hope you understand that we are tailoring these sessions specifically so as to develop the children with ASD and so any non ASD sufferers will take away from this as well as probably not get the attention they need.
Climbing is a great sport especially because you can almost wear what you want! You can wear so much it is easy to say what you cannot wear.
Please do not wear dresses or skirts, high heels for flip flops.
Most people wear what they would wear to the gym or to play in the park. Wearing something warm to the climbing sessions is always a good idea as sometimes it can be cold in the climbing centres at the beginnings.
The Bristol Climbing Club runs climbing sessions for children with Autism every 2 weeks throughout the year. To find our when the next session is please visit Climbing with Autism (ASD)
